Vesta Association is organising a Call for applications for 2 posts of Child Rights Expert/Consultant (within different competence areas). Registration of applications will begin on June 20, 2011 and will be terminated on June 30, 2011. The above position is open in the scope of the project Strengthening of the role of civil society organizations in the monitoring of the state Strategy for combating violence against children 2011-2014 in Bosnia and Herzegovina which is funded by the European Union and which will last 3 years.

A round table discussion was organised today in Tuzla, by Vesta Association, in cooperation with the Fridrich Ebert Foundation, on the theme ˝Women in public and political life – position and perspectives ˝. The objective of this round table is strengthening women's role in the decision making processes.

Decision makers in BiH expressed their committment to a continued dialogue and implementation of civil society's recommendations, presented in today's session of the „Citizens for Europe“ Initiative, held in Sarajevo, about promoting agriculture and rural development of BiH, on its path toward the EU.

As part of the project "Introducing anti-corruption measures at universities in BiH", implemented by Vesta Association, with the financial support of the European Union, the second capacity building workshop took place on 27 May at the University Campus in Banja Luka, on the theme "Role and use of media in combating corruption ".

Authorities supported most of the civil society's recommendations, presented at today's meeting of the „Citizens for Europe“ Initiative with the decision makers in BiH, on the theme „Faster to Europe through the reform of the energy and environment sector“. Participants were addressed by the EUSR in BiH, Valentin Inzko, under whose auspices the initiative is taking place. His message was that today the citizens are calling on the authorities to talk to them, given that citizens are „frustrated and disappointed in their leaders who are unable to come up with a solution“. Inzko emphasised that the EU supports this initiative, as well as its recommendations, and that they are not much different from those that the political parties supported prior to the latest parliamentary elections.

As part of the project "Introducing anti-corruption measures at universities in BiH", which is implemented by Vesta Association, with the financial support of EU, the first capacity building workshop took place on 13 May 2011, at the Peace Flame House in Tuzla. The theme was "Corruption in BiH". Participants of the workshop were members of Vesta project team and OKC Banja Luka, as well as project associates, Students' Parliament Banja Luka and Youth Movement Revolt from Tuzla.

Although they represent majority voters in BiH, women are still, to a considerably lesser extent, participating in the decision making processes at all levels of government. Lack of awareness in the society about the importance of equal participation of women and men in the political life of democratic BiH is discouraging. This was stated at the round table on the theme „Gender equality-challenges and key issues for the future˝ which was held in Tuzla, organised by Vesta Association and the Fridrich Ebert Foundation.
