Workshop on ''Role and use of media in combating corruption“

As part of the project "Introducing anti-corruption measures at universities in BiH", implemented by Vesta Association, with the financial support of the European Union, the second capacity building workshop took place on 27 May at the University Campus in Banja Luka, on the theme "Role and use of media in combating corruption ".

The workshop was attended by representatives of Vesta's project team, OKC Banja Luka, as well as project associates – Students' Parliament from Banja Luka and Youth Movement Revolt from Tuzla.

The trainer at this workshop was Ms Ivana Korajlić, spokesperson of Transparency International BiH. She shared with the participants knowledge about the role of media, pubic opinion and effects that media have in combating corruption. Participants also learned more about the planning and implementation of media campaigns. The next capacity building workshop is planned to take place in the fall of 2011. By then, Vesta Association, with the support of a professional agency, will have completed a research of corruption at universities.

With a view to contribute to the capacity building of civil society and government institutions in their combat against corruption at universities in BiH, Vesta Association, in partnership with Omladinski komunikacioni centar OKC from Banja Luke, is implementing the project „Introducing anti-corruption measures at universities in BiH“. The project is being implemented at the Universities of Tuzla and Banja Luka in 2011 and 2012, with the financial support of the European Union under the IPA program.

The objective of this project is to provide to students of Tuzla and Banja Luka Universities an efficient system for detection of corruption and systematic addressing of this problem, and to ensure that, by the end of 2012, these two Universities have a Program of measures to prevent and combat corruption, developed jointly by all interest groups.
