Held debate on the topic “Promoting sustainable development through achieving energy efficiency”
A public debate on the topic "Promoting sustainable development through achieving energy efficiency" was organized in Tuzla by Association Vesta, under the auspices of the EU Special Representative (EUSR) and the Embassy of the Czech Republic and in cooperation with the Directorate for European Integration BiH.
The participants in the debate were addressed by H. E. Bosse Hedberg, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to B&H, Mr. Jasmin Imamović, the Mayor of Tuzla, as well as energy experts Dr. Mirza Kušljugić and Džemila Agić. Also participating on behalf of the Directorate for European Integration B&H were Ms. Jasmina Čengić and Ms. Aida Hodžić.
The participants discussed the natural energy and human potential for the promotion of sustainable development in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The DEI representative, Ms. Čengić, presented the possibilities of supporting the development of the energy sector through IPA funds and other forms of support from the European Union.
This debate was one of a series of events which are organized throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina by the EUSR and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in collaboration with the DEI for the purpose of initiating a discussion on the priorities that need to be addressed by our country in the process of integration into the European Union.
Similar debates on the key issues for the civil society and the youth in the area of European integration will be organized in Goražde, Jablanica, Brčko, Prijedor, Doboj and Bihać. The conclusions from these debates will be presented in mid 2009. More information on www.reci.ba
