Visa hotline: a hotline for queries
Last week, as part of the "Visa facilitation" project, the "Visa hotline" telephone line was launched. Citizens from five West Balkan countries (Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina) have the opportunity to share their experience in the process of obtaining a visa, to state their opinions and ask about their rights in the framework of the new visa facilitation agreement, which came into force on January 1st, 2008.
During the first six days since the "Visa Hotline" was launched, citizens mostly contacted the visa experts to share their previous experience regarding the process of obtaining a visa, to ask about the procedures and documentation needed for obtaining a visa, and about their rights in the framework of the new visa regime which came into force on January 1st, 2008. The citizens also remarked that the launching of the "Visa facilitation" project was particularly positive.
We remind the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina that the "Visa hotline" is open every day from 8 am to 5 pm, until June 20th. The purpose of the Visa Hotline is to collect information on the current situation regarding the process of obtaining visas in order to assess and, later on, exert pressure on national governments of the countries participating in the project, for the purpose of more rapid liberalization of the visa regime. The results will be presented also to the EU institutions, the Council of Europe, the European Commission, the European Parliament and the regular representatives of the State Members of the European Union.
