Finished project

In 2007, VESTA Association analyzed the work of media within the project "Media Monitoring: Presentation of women politicians in Tuzla Canton", and found out how much space is given to women politicians, and in which way they represent them in the post-election period. Electronic and written media monitoring is done, and a series of radio shows that were show in VESTA radio program was realized. Women politicians from Tuzla Canton took part in it. The project was based on the necessities of the youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina so as to actively become involved in the decision making processes that contribute to the improvement of their status in this country. With the aim of supporting and promoting improvement of legal system in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vesta Association implements project which has a goal of familiarizing the public in B&H with this process through the media and strengthening of non-governmental organizations for providing support for their users in cases of violation of their human rights.

Implementation of the project has a goal to contribute to the introduction of procedures for gender sensitive budgeting in Bosnia and Herzegovina according to the Gender Action Plan in BiH, which also means realization of the part of the operational plan of gender mechanism in BiH in this area.

Association Vesta cooperates with non-profit organization “Association of Blind People’’ (ABP), a grass root organization that advocates for human rights of blind people. The Association’s organizational capacities of ABP are limited, which is an obstacle in terms of their abilities to implement complex projects and meet expectation of their beneficiaries.

In an effort to raise public awareness of the needs of women and children in Bosnia and Herzegovina, VESTA helped organize the KRIK Network - a national association of local radio stations and NGOs.  One of KRIK's first coordinated public advocacy campaigns included 20 municipalities (including Banovići, Travnik, Srebrenica and Bijeljina) and promoted public discourse regarding the human rights of the country's women and children.  The establishment of the KRIK network continues to be valuable for regional and national advocacy efforts.

The main goal of the RESPECT Equality project is to support the sustainable return of minorities in accordance with Annex VII of the Dayton Peace Accord. Target groups of the project are minority returnees in 12 local communities of Bratunac, Lopare, Sapna and Čelić.  RESPECT Equality addresses the problem of on-going discrimination in these communities and promotes the socio-economic rights of minority returnees.  Additionally, several initiatives within the project aim to eliminate or reduce elements of xenophobia.
